Sea Cadet International Exchange United States...

A Leading Cadet from Bexley and Lewisham SCU was selected for the Sea Cadet International Exchange to Rhode Island in the United States of America with three other Cadets and one member of staff.

While he was there he participated in many events such as visiting the Boston Navy Yard, numerous military establishments and a two day trip in New York City where we had free time to shop and sight see. While the group was in New York the whole exchange of 60 cadets and staff went to watch Mamma Mia at the Winter Garden Theatre on Broadway. From there they looked around Times Square at night with all the fantastic light displays. All the cadets went on board the USS Massachusetts for the 4th of July.

Our Leading Cadet really enjoyed this Exchange because he met so many new people who he will become lifelong friends with as well as all the fantastic activities in which he participated in.

On his return to the UK, our Leading Cadet was identified as being the Top Cadet of this Exchange.

Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant (01/06/2012 -...

As part of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebrations, four cadets and one member of staff from Bexley and Lewisham Unit took part in the Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant. Using our new Trinity under outboard power, they formed part of the 55 boat Sea Cadet Trinity Flotilla, travelling in diamond formation, each carrying a flag of the Commonwealth Nations, down the Thames and cheering Her Majesty the Queen as they passed the Royal Barge. Cadets and staff were extremely proud to be part of history with this memorable event and are all a credit to the Unit. BZ to all involved!
