Area Adventure Training Competition - September...

4 Cadets represented Bedfordshire District Sea Cadets at the Eastern Area AT Competition in the Peak District.

Cadets competed in Mountain Biking Skills, Map & Compass Skills, Campcraft Skills and Ecology Skills.

Cadets were self sufficient and had to provide all of their own equipment and food for the weekend.

Great result with the Team placing in 2nd Place and the Team Leader, Ordinary Cadet Ben Lugg placing 2nd.

Unit Summer Camp, Falmouth - August 2012

18 Cadets and 6 Staff took part in the Units Annual Summer Camp to Falmouth.  We spent 8 days in total visiting the South West and spent 5 days afloat sailing in Bosun and Laser 2000 Sailing Dinghies.

Cadets had the opportunity to visit the Royal Naval Air Station Culdrose and spent time with the Helicopter Search & Rescue Crews.  Cadets also visited Royal Navy Ship HMS Echo whilst she was alongside in Falmouth and the RNLI Lifeboat.

All personnel were accommodated under canvass at a campsite near Maenporth Beach.  A great experience for all who attended, especially those who managed to get the dolphins swimming next to there boat.

District Adventure Training Competition -...

4 Cadets represented the Unit at the District Competition held in the grounds of Luton Hoo.  Cadets were assessed on Campcraft Skills, Map & Compass Wors, First Aid, Ropework and Field Cooking.  The team consisted on Ordinary Cadets Lugg, Dunham, Bryant and Cross, who had to be self sufficient for the entire weekend, preparing menus and bringing all the correct equipment required for their trip.  They also undertook a 10KM hike on the Saturday and undertook various stances at the different checkpoints.

 

The Team won the Junior AT Team class award and Ordinaruy Cadet Ben Lugg won the Best Team Leader, well done all.

International Exchange, South Korea - August 2012

Leading Cadet Victoria Lombardi represented the UK Sea Cadets on the Insternational Exchange to South Korea.  Leading cadet Lombardi spent 2 weks visiting the country, taking in the Demilitiarised Zone and Major Tourist attranctions, together with getting involved in South Korean Sea cadet activities.

Leading Cadet Lombardi was also nominated as Top Cadet on the exchange, well done.

Olympics & the Sea Cadets Offshore Power Fleet

12 cadets and 4 Staff spent 2 days in the Weymouth Area during the Olympics and spent the day onboard the TS Jack Petchey and TS John Jerwood (The Sea Cadet Offshiore Power Fleet) who were assisting with the security at the Sailing Competitions.

An experience for all involved, especially seeing Team GB Sailor, Ben Ainslie (Finn Class) winning GOLD!!!!!!
