District Swimming Comp 19-09-15

Well done to all of the cadets that competed last night at the Warwickshire District Swimming Competition. All cadets did extremely well with the following cadets gaining certificates as follows:

CDT1 Josh Denny: Junior Boys Butterfly – Winner: Junior Boys Individual Medley - Winner

OC Tom Hickey: Junior Boys Backstroke - Runner Up: Juniors Boys Breaststroke - Runner Up

JCFC Mia Evans: Junior Sea Cadet Backstroke - Runner Up

As a result of this we won the overall juniors boys section and finished in 8th place overall. Well done all for some great results!

RYA Level 2 Powerboat Displacement 06-09-15

Congratulations and well done to three of our cadets for achieving the RYA Level 2 Powerboat Displacement qualification in Weymouth this weekend.

The cadets are; LC Beth Rose, LC Ben Mohan and AC Zac Cutchey.

Very proud of the ten cadets that represented Shirley Sea Cadets and Warwickshire District at the South West Area Combined Regatta in Bristol yesterday. After an early early morning and an arduous day of competing the results were fantastic and are as follows:

 LC Jake Elliott and CDT1 Rees Ward Open Boys K2 Kayak Time Trial - Winners: Open Boys K2 Kayak Sprint - 3rd Place

OC Zac Cutchey Open Boys Canoe Cross Stream Challenge - 4th Place

AC Beth Harrison, AC Lauren Oldham, OC Jade Joseph, OC Sapphire Poles, CDT1 Emma Mohan Open Girls Trinity Rowing - 5th Place

AC James Coughlin and AC Jamie-Lea Bourne Open Mixed Yole - Winners

Some great successes and four cadets will go through to the National Combined Regatta in London, which will be held in September.

Huge well done to the cadets that competed today at Shustoke Reservoir in the Warwickshire District Sailing Competition.

After a slow start today with little wind, we achieved some great results:

Open Pico - OC Tom Gahan - Joint Winner

 Open PY Class - CDT T Hickey - 4th Place

 Open Windsurfing - LC Ryan Marland - Runner Up

OC Tom Gahan will progress to the South West Area Sailing Regatta later this month.

We finished in 3rd place overall. Thank you to the cadets and adults in attendance today.

Amazing weekend at the Warwickshire District Combined Regatta 2015 at Sutton Coldfield. The cadets have all done the unit extremely proud, competing against nine other local units with the following results:

BOATHANDLING: Sail - 3rd, Power - 3rd, Rowing - 3rd.

ROWING – TRINITY Junior Boys - 5th, Junior Girls - 5th, Open Boys - 3rd, Open Girls - 1st.

ROWING – YOLE  Open Boys Single - 3rd, Open Girls Single - 2nd, Junior Mixed Doubles - 2nd, Open Mixed Doubles - 1st.

OVERALL Position - 2nd.

A massive well done to each and every one of the 30 cadets that competed, plus the cadets that supported and the adults that have helped to train the cadets and manage teams this weekend.

A huge thank you to the unit management committee and unit helpers for catering this weekend and to the parents and supporters for your cheering.

A very successful weekend and I am very proud of our results!

The Open Girls Rowing and Open Mixed Yole teams will progress through to the Area Competition in July, which will be held in Bristol.
