Rememberance Day Parade 2012

Rememberance Day Parade 2012

On a chilly Sunday morning November 11th the Southampton Sea Cadets remembered the fallen at the Cenotaph. Well done to all the cadets for their turn out today. It was especially good to see the unit parade the RNA standard along side our own standard. You all should be proud of yourself today as you all remembered with dignity and respect.

The unit was filled with skeletons, bats, witches and vampires to name but a few ghouls and supernatural bodies.

The cadets arrived in Halloween dress to participate in what is becoming an annual event of a Halloween party. They took part in fun games and challenges which involved serious amounts of slime and other unattractive challenges.

After a brief respite from the Supernatural the cadets consumed soup and hot dogs, they then assembled outside on the rear main deck area where they were treated to a small firework display.

A fun night was had by all and the cadets went home with large smiles upon faces.

Cadets from the unit were successful, after a hard days training to be part of the 30 Cadet strong Colour Guard for annual Seafarers Parade.

As part of the parade there is a short remembrance ceremony at the Nelson Memorial to Commemorate the Victory by Nelson at the Battle of Trafalgar, there is also a service of thanks giving held in Porstmouth Cathedral for Seafarers across the world. The Commanding Officer was drafted in at the last minute as the First Officer of the Guard. The Guard and Band were inspected by the Naval base Commander Portsmouth.

A superb demonstration of what Sea Cadets can achieve, with their training and teamwork.
