Boating Courses- 21/03/2015

After a long and cold winter, our unit wasted no time getting out on the water when we heard the sun was going to be shining this weekend. Three of our members of staff and three of our cadets spent their weekend at Crosby Lakeside Adventure Centre on courses in windsurfing and rowing. After a very tiring couple of days those who did windsurfing were very pleased to come away their first qualifications in windsurfing (albeit with a few more bruises than they started with), and those who did rowing took one step closer to gaining their rowing coxswain awards.

Staff Promotions- 19/03/2015

We are very pleased to announce that a number of our adult volunteers have recently been promoted. After 2 years of hard work and lots of adult development courses, PO (SCC) Liam Humphries, PO (SCC) Lynette Pendleton, and Sgt (SCC) Sarah Chambers have all achieved their full rank of PO/Sgt. Also well done to our newest member of staff A/PO (SCC) Patrick Devaney, who was promoted from civilian instructor to acting petty officer. Although these promotions will not affect the day to day running of the unit, all that were promoted are very happy to see their hard work and commitment recognised!

District Seamanship and ME Competition- 12/03/2015

After weeks of knot tying and engine part naming, our cadets were very excited to attend the first Merseyside West District Seamanship and ME Competition. Throughout the course of the evening the cadets knowledge of their subject was thoroughly tested as they competed against the other units to reach the final round. After a superb effort our unit came 2nd overall, an excellent result that we are very proud of!

Marine Engineering Course- 01/03/2015

A massive well done to MC2 Jones and Mahon for recently completing their second class Marine Engineering qualification! They are the first cadets in the unit to have completed this qualification in many years and have made an excellent start to the new year. The feedback from the unit they attended for their course was glowing and we hope this prompts many more cadets to get out there and attend as many courses as possible.

Juniors Celebrate Chinese New Year- 19/02/2015

As part of their community module, our junior cadets have recently been learning about Chinese culture and traditions to celebrate Chinese new year. For a few parade nights our juniors have been learning how to use chopsticks, making fried rice, and made their own dragon which they used when they put on their very own Chinese parade.
