An Unarmed Squad, a Squad Commander, a CO, an Admin Officer (and mum), an XO, a Training Officer (and Dad), a Padre, a Boats Officer, a Junior Cadet Instructor (and mum) and a Chairperson all descended on St Peters High School in Gloucester for the annual Severn District Drill & Piping Competition on Sunday 14th February. After weeks of preparation and hours of practise by our squad and their incredibly helpful & dedicated CO our team performed absolutely superbly, bringing tears to the eyes of some..... (not to be named). It was a fantastic display and given the nerves of our Squad Commander Able Cadet Sam Bailey just minutes before, it was like a switch had been pressed when the routine started. Complete professionalism and utter calmness. The squad followed each command perfectly, it was a pleasure to watch. I am delighted to report that not only did we win the Unarmed Drill routine, coming first out of six other teams but we won by a country mile, just proving that the commitment and dedication to training really does pay off. The icing on the cake was Able Cadet Sam Bailey also winning Best Squad Commander - HMS Raleigh here we come.
Just three weeks to polish up the act and then a trip to Plymouth is in order from 4th - 6th March with the competition held on Saturday 5th March. Good luck everyone.

In addition we were also presented with the Commander Cameron Endeavour Trophy for the Sea Cadet Unit who has made the most effort during the year. Tewkesbury last won this 19 years ago in 1997 so we were delighted to bringing the trophy home again for 2015. Lt Cdr (SCC) M Pritchard RNR presented the award to our CO Sub Lt (SCC) T Cooper RNR at the competition on Sunday
