SEA CADETS ON BOARD HMS OCEAN FOR A WEEK!

02/10/2014

Sea Cadets from Teign Valley Unit took part in a training offshore voyage on HMS Ocean from Sunday 21 to Saturday 27 September 2014.

During their time on the ship, they got stuck in all aspects of the ship including shadowing air support crew on the flight deck and hanger, landing craft launching and a boat drill away from the ship. They also took part in a small arm live fire exercises, attended training presentations, learned about the use of equipment and roles in beach landings.

Sea Cadet Edward, aged 17, thoroughly enjoyed his time on HMS Ocean. He says “The trip on HMS Ocean is the most fantastic thing I have done in or out of Cadets, being treated as a member of the crew on the UK's biggest warship and flying in the new Merlin helicopters, has made me determined to finish my A levels and join the Royal Navy as aircrew”.
