CADETS TAKE PART IN WATERLOO DISPATCH REENACTMENT

19/06/2015

Sea Cadets will be getting a hands-on history lesson tomorrow when they will be taking part in the reenactment of the Waterloo Dispatch.

When Britain and its allies defeated Napoleon at Waterloo in June 1815, it took three days for the news to reach London. Now, 200 years later, cadets from Southern and London areas will be helping the re-enactment of a modern version of Wellington's message being carried by interpreters in period uniform, by traditional horse and carriage and ship from the battlefield in Belgium back to London.

Navy Board Cadet POC Charlie from Southern Area will be on shore to greet the dispatch when it arrives on British shores at Broadstairs, along with the Mayor of Broadstairs.
