Sea Cadets have launched a national fundraising campaign to build a new ship to replace the charity’s iconic flagship, TS Royalist now over 40 years old -   and we need your help.

As well as units and districts being committed to raising money towards the appeal, staff across the country will also sign up for  challenges and and a variety of other events to help the charity meets its target.

A voyage in TS Royalist is the pinnacle of the cadet experience – an iconic once in a lifetime offshore adventure that literally puts the sea in Sea Cadets! A voyage on her is available to all 14,000 UK Sea Cadets and every year taking 1500 cadets to sea, that’s 30,000 since her launch in 1971.

This sail training ship has helped young people to develop teamwork and confidence and face challenges in an exhilarating environment.

The charity has worked hard over the last two years, already raising £3.8m of the £5.6million target but now  we need your help in one last push, please help us by showing your support and making a vital contribution, whether small or large, to make sure thousands of cadets can keep sailing with Sea Cadets!

Sea Cadets and Royal Marines Cadets marched on to Trafalgar Square today (Sunday 21 Oct) to celebrate national Trafalgar Day with platoons of 500 cadets from all over the UK,  and the Massed Band of the Sea Cadets. A strong crowd of spectators joined in, waving Sea Cadet flags as they enjoyed the incredible display performed  by these young people to Royal Naval dignitaries. 

This impressive free show marched from The Mall to Trafalgar Square in remembrance of Admiral Lord Nelson's historic victory at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805. This is the 207th anniversary.

Sea Cadets have been taking part in this National  event for over 100 years and it is a chance for them to show off their incredible skill, talent and discipline for parading.

Normally out on the water, Sea Cadets take a break to remember their roots and perform at the national Trafalgar Day Parade on Sunday 21 October, commemorating the historic Battle of Trafalgar in 1805 and Admiral Lord Nelson.

This impressive free show of club swinging and formal parading, with an 80 strong Massed Band, marching from The Mall to Trafalgar Square - celebrates Trafalgar Day on behalf of the Royal Navy. This event is open to the public and will be watched by London's tourists and spectators.

500 young people will take part, including the Army and Air cadets. Plus, Sea Cadets launch the final push of their New Ship Appeal to replace their flagship sail training vessel, TS Royalist – already having raised £3.8m of the £5.6m target needed.

This event is free and open to the public from 11am till 12.40pm.

Continuing the competitive and sporting fever the Olympics created, Sea Cadets had their Annual National Sailing and Combined regattas, and the races to be crowned national winners was just as fierce.

The sailing regatta was hosted in Southport and the combined regatta was held at Excel in London.

Overall winners of the sailing regatta were another split victory between Eastern Area and South West Area.

Overall winners of the combined regatta was split between three areas - winning the Armitage Trophy - Southern Area, South West Area and Northern Ireland.
