We are very pleased to announce that the Unit is open again following the COVID-19 pandemic. We are looking forward to welcoming everyone back over the coming weeks.
In celebration of National Volunteers' Week we want to say a huge thanks to all of the volunteers who support the Unit, including both our Adult Instructors and the members of our Unit Management Team.
An important part of reopening the Unit is making sure that the staff are appropriately qualified to safely supervise cadets. This weekend the CO and the XO have been at Milton Keynes Unit revalidating their First Aid qualifications that have expired during the pandemic. It's honestly not that confusing Lt Kingshott!
We are pleased to announce that the Unit has been granted Lime status meaning we will reopen later this month!
Congratulations to the Commanding Officer of the Unit, Lt (SCC) Nick Jones RNR, on receiving a Volunteering Excellence Award from his employers, PricewaterhouseCoopers. This award for Lt Jones' work in the local community was presented by Ian Powell, Chairman and Senior Partner of PwC, at the firm's More London office on Monday 24 October.
In conjunction with this award the firm also donated £3,500 enabling the Unit to start a fund to replace its aging heating system. Richard Royall, Unit Chairman, who also attended the awards ceremony thanked PwC for the donation saying that this award will help maintain our primary source of income from those hiring the hall, freeing up other funds for cadet activities.
