Juno beach in Normandy cadet Ruben attended the D-Day 75 anniversary and was given the opportunity by the Australian ambassador to given a short speech he had written on the impact of D-Day on today’s youth along other young people from the allied nations.
Cadet Ruben gave his speech in front of the D Day Veterans, PM Édouard Philippe of France, PM Justin Trudeau of Canada, US head of House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi and the Ambassadors of the Allied nations.
Cadet Ruben also received a message on the way home from the DA to say the Australian Ambassador extended his congratulations and the German & Belgique Ambassadors thought his was the most poignant of speeches.
Our juniors are having fun at Cowes unit for the yearly district wet weekend.
They are building rafts, and learning the basic rowing techniques.
They have also taken part in the RN tradition of the crossing the line ceremony.
