Tri- Service Trophy Won by Sea Cadets!

Tri- Service Trophy Won by Sea Cadets!

13/06/2013

The Falklands Trophy, a Tri-Service cadet adventure competition, celebrated its 30th year on 8 June. Every year cadet teams compete and this year saw Essex Sea Cadets and Royal Marines Cadets, plus Air and Army cadets competing for the prize. It’s a great weekend of adventure, fun and challenge as cadets put their skills and determination to the test.

The last Sea Cadet win was in 2000 but this year, after a 13 year pause, Walton-on-the-Naze Unit finally brought the Trophy back home, well done!

18 cadets and volunteers aged 16 -25 formed a single crew and took part in the RN’s Junior Field Gun competition at HMS Collingwood today, and went through to the final!

They competed against crews (teams) from lots of organisations including the RN, Princes Trust and Army Cadets. They were all competing for the competition shield as well as the Inter Service Cadet shield, which they won last year. The competition sees crews racing with a 1.5tonne field gun.

The Sea Cadet crew drew on cadets and volunteers from lots of units from across the UK including Newcastle and Cornwall. The competition is about team work, commitment, dexterity and coordination while manouvering the equipment over the course.

Well done to everyone who took part.
