Sea Cadets Remembrance Day

Sea Cadets Remembrance Day

Armistice Day commemorates the official end of World War One and all those who have and continue to sacrifice for their country.

Sea Cadets are honoured to salute and join in national services, be that remotely this year.

Cadet Callum from Kent had the honour of being the Bugler on the Cenotaph this Sunday.

Join us at 11am for a 2 minutes silence. We will remember them.

Thank you to everyone who remembered at home in their own way, saluting on their doorsteps or their living room.

Here are some of many of the Cadet salutes across the UK:

Ruislip Sea Cadets:

Staines and Egham Sea Cadets:

Trafalgar Day 2020

Trafalgar Day 2020

We’re honoured to commemorate Trafalgar Day this year despite current restrictions. Captain Philip Russell RN, First Sea Lord Cadet Sergeant Laurelle (Waltham Forest SC) Leading Cadet Shaun (Greenwhich, Deptford and Rotherthithe SC) and Leading Cadet Callum (Folkestone SC) attended Trafalgar Square in a ceremony scaled back from the usual for the laying of the wreaths and salute to Admiral Lord Nelson.

Trafalgar Day is an important event in the Sea Cadet calendar to come together socially and demonstrate our values. Although we could not meet physically this year, cadets across the UK joined in national virtual salute.

Cadet wins Submariner Memorial appeal 2020

Winner of the 11-18 category in the Submariner Memorial competition was Cadet Zoe from Gosforth Sea Cadets.

Zoe impressed the judges with her blue glass design that visitors can walk under to view sculptured art. Zoe, along with the other winners, are invited to attend the opening of the memorial in 2022 by Prince William, Commodore-in-Chief Submarines.

The Submariner Memorial Appeal is a registered charity set up to create a fitting memorial to submariners who have lost their lives in the Service and to the sacrifice of their families.

Former Cadets accepted to RM Band Service

Former Cadets accepted to RM Band Service

The Royal Marines Band Service is regarded as one of the world’s most versatile military musical organisations, providing the Naval Service, Defence and the UK with musical and ceremonial excellence that underpins the fabric of the nation, Service ethos and national core values.

We’re very proud that 7 former Sea Cadets have been accepted into this prestigious service this year.

Best of luck to them as they embark on their exciting career ahead, which could see them perform in ceremonies all over the globe.

Summer Active with Sea Cadets

Summer Active with Sea Cadets

In August the Summer Active programme has seen 2,059 Cadets return to boating in paddlesports, rowing, kayaking, and sailing sessions. With participation of 150 units across 17 venues.

Well done to all cadets who took part and the volunteers and instructors who made this Summer Active! Doing what Sea Cadets does best back on the water.

Snapped is a junior cadet Dinghy Sailing, taken at the last day of Summer Active at the Cheddar Reservoir boating hub.

Hear from parents who got in touch to tell us about their children’s experiences boating:

My son had an absolute blast out on the water and is properly tired for the first time this summer.....
He has missed all the cadet activity so much. “ Charlie, Weymouth.

“Thank you so much for today. You've put in a huge amount of effort to get this going, even more than we realised - and we are so very grateful. “ Karen, Glastonbury.
