3 teams from Avonmouth Unit represented Avon district at the Area 5-a-side footbal competition, Junior Boys, Juniors Girls and Junior Section. An excellent effort was made by all 3 teams and although no silverware came home with us, we all had an excellent day!
Celebrating 75 years of this brilliant unit! Members from past and present compared their experiences over cups of tea and cake and watched displays of 'Piling the Drums', Drill, Adenture Training and First Aid. We also had the new Marine Engineering pod on display! The Captain of the Corps, Captain Phil Russell RN was in attendance and spoke to many of the guests on board. We recieved many gifts, letters and photographs which will help us build the unit history. Thank you to all who celebrated with us.
Well done to Able Cadet Eve, who after achieving 'top cadet' on the Bronze Aviation Course, then completing Silver course, Able Cadet Eve has now completed the Gold Wings Aviation Course, held at RNAS Yeovilton. The course consists of plotting courses, learning about flying laws, a visit to air traffic control as well as much more with only those cadets selected to attend the Gold course taking the controls!
Avonmouth's Unarmed Drill Team (as opposed to armed with rifles!) successfully beat off their competition through the District and Area stages to go on and achieve a fabulous 3rd place at National level. Well Done!
