Weapons Handling training, Jersey Camp – Isle...

Sunday 26th July saw 6 of our cadets head down to the Isle of Wight to join Central District on their Annual Camp. L/Cpl Nicklin, MC2 Wilson, MC2 Millward Stone, MC2 St John, MC2 Wells and Cadet King were set for a week of shooting and fun. The journey from Gosport to the Isle of Wight was supposed to be by PAS boat but due to the inclement weather conditions alternative transport was arranged via the WightLink Cat.

The cadets enjoyed a week of shooting MK 8 22 rifles and the Cadet L98A2 GP rifle, not only learning to shoot but how to safely handle and clean the rifles. A great time was had by all culminating in a massive BBQ on Thursday night prior to their departure for home on Friday. A huge thanks to Central District Team and Staff for hosting this event and allowing our cadets to attend.

Following his 1st place at the District competition Cdt L/Cpl Nicklin was now set to compete in the Area Competition in the Cross Stream Kayak Category for the District. On arrival he also found that he would be representing the District in the Cross Stream Canoe Category due to someone having to drop out unexpectedly.

Unit BBQ, Wendover Woods - July 2015

Unit BBQ, Wendover Woods - July 2015

On Saturday the 4th July the unit also held its annual BBQ. This was the fourth time this fundraiser has been held and we once again visited the BBQ areas in Wendover Woods. Approximately 40 supporters joined us for the afternoon and enjoyed the BBQ fare cooked by PO Cox and his assistant Cdt L/Cpl Nicklin. There were also some lovely cakes available afterwards for those of us with a sweet tooth.

Many thanks to all of those who came along to support this event. We’d also like to say a big thank you to PO Cox and Cdt L/Cpl for their cooking and the P&SA for organising the event and setting up on the day.

William Harding Fete, Aylesbury - July 2015

On Saturday 4th July, MC2 Fitzgerald, MC2 Bailey and JC1 Edwards along with Sgt Davies and Mrs Southworth all attended the William Harding School fete where we had a stall to raise funds for the unit and to promote our unit and its activities.

This was a very successful day with funds raised through the Tombola and from selling the branded SCC / RMC merchandise. The promotion of the unit also led to 2 new recruits joining T.S Broadsword. Thank you to the cadets and staff who helped on the day.
