Victory in Europe (VE) Day was the public holiday celebrated on 8th May 1945 to mark the formal acceptance of Nazi Germany's unconditional surrender, by the Allied Forces and the end of WWII in Europe. People across Yorkshire joined the rest of the UK to share a moment of relief and euphoria that war in Europe was finally over.
Barnsley Sea Cadet Band were delighted to be invited to play at VE day celebrations at the Earl of Strafford Public House at Hooton Roberts. The Band entertained the public and enjoyed having a go at some of the sideshows including the bale tossing.
