PENNANT SUCCESS!

PENNANT SUCCESS!

Last night the unit were pleased to host the Mayor of Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council - Councillor Suleman Khonat.

The Mayor was able to view the training we carry out and meet a number of cadets on the evening. He also presented a number of awards.

The first was presented to our Commanding Officer on behalf of the whole Unit. This was our 2022 Pennant from the Captain of the Sea Cadet Corps. The pennant reflects the hard work of our volunteers and cadets over 2022.

VIRTUAL LONDON MARATHON RAISES £1,200!

VIRTUAL LONDON MARATHON RAISES £1,200!

With current restrictions hampering the 2020 London Marathon, our Unit Chair, Jacob decided to keep on going and take part in the 'Virtual London Marathon', running his own 26.2 mile route from Darwen to Dunham Massey.

Thanks to the generosity of over 50 contributors, this virtual event managed to raise a massive £1,200 for the unit!

To put that in to persepective - £1,200 is enough money to fund 40 weekend courses for our young people of the borough, that may not otherwise have the opportunity to do so. This provides them with the invaluable life skills and opportunities on offer through the Sea Cadets!

A huge thank you to all those who have contributed to my Virtual Marathon. Your generous support shall go a long way in helping the young people of Blackburn! - Jacob Knowles, Unit Chair.
