The Unit attended the Northern District Camp in the New Forest. Of the cadets attending six Junior Cadets (aged 10-12) gained their JSC Green, Outdoor and Recreational badges and three Cadets gained their Basic Campcraft qualification.

On the Sunday a number of cadets from the Unit attended the annual memorial service, for those lost in HMS Hood, at Boldre Church. The battlecruiser HMS Hood was sunk on the 24th May 1941 in the North Atlantic, with the loss of over 1400 men, by the German battleship Bismarck.

The photograph shows Shannon Whitten (left) and Lorna Keogh, in their number 1 uniforms, back at the campsite after the service.

April 2012- Broads Trip

April 2012- Broads Trip

The Unit undertook its, now traditional, week-long trip to the Norfolk Broads. The staff and cadets were spread across three cabin cruisers.  The cadets had great fun exploring this beautiful, nature-packed corner of the country- about as different from dreary inner London as it is possible to get, without an airline ticket. They practiced not only exciting tasks such as helming and mooring but also such essential life skills as cooking, cleaning the boats and, yes, parents, really- washing up dishes.

There will be no Broads trip in 2013. This is to husband resources, not least the valuable annual leave of our volunteer staff, for a trip to France.

Pictured is our Unit Chairman, Captain John L David, with some of the younger cadets.
