On Saturday 18th June, the cadets took part in the annual Guid Nychburris Parade. The Cadets had worked hard over a number of weeks leading up to the event, deciding on a theme for the event and creating their costumes. TOP GUN was the theme and the cadets turned the "Float" into an Aircraft carrier with home made aeroplanes, Flight control tower and Ramp. We all had a fantastic day.
On Sunday 28th May to celebrate the Kings Coronation, we attended St Michaels Church for their Coronation Service
On a lovely dry evening on Tuesday 16th May we travelled up to Rosyth Dockyard to take part in a Ships Visit to one of the New Aircraft Carriers, HMS Prince of Wales. After going through security we walked up the gangeway into the massive hangar. From there we were taken on a tour of the ship, we had a look on the Bridge and the cadets loved the big RED chairs for the Captain and the Navigator, they all sat in THE Chair. We toured the ship for approximatley 2 hours and saw eveything from the accomodation to the galley as well as the operations room and the Forecastle, the anchor chain was massive. Thanks must go to the Ships company for allowing us on Board.
We had a visit from the local Merchant Navy Association this evening, they presented us with a cheque for our Marine Cadet detachment. C/Sgt Riley accepted the donation on behalf of our Detachment Commander
