The cadets out did themselves again this year, although no prizes again this year they did complete the race and in one piece. Well done to them all, thinking caps on for next year "Fancy Dress" a must.

Dumfries Sea Cadets will be amongst the first charities in the country to use its own, unique personalised text code, DFSI12, to raise funds using JustTextGiving by Vodafone.
This is a brand new, free service for charities, that has no set up or fundraising costs for charities, no network charges for people making donations and every penny donated goes to charity. Gift Aid can also be added to donations.
From today, supporters of Dumfries Sea Cadets can make donations of up to £10 by texting DFSI12 and either 2, 5 or 10 to 70070 to make their donation. The text message is free and all of the donation will be passed to Dumfries Sea Cadets.
The senior Cadets along with a member of the civilian staff and one of our parents decided to enter the annual "Lions Club Raft Race", so a team was put together, Kyle, Ryan, Hannah, Jordan, Jamie and Chris all braved the River Nith for the course from Nunholm down to the Caul Back in the centre of town. Although we did not win the race, all that took part had a fantastic time.

With 5 weeks to go to "The Big Parade" we decided to enter a float at the annual Guid Nychburris parade, the theme - Sea Cadets of the Caribbean - After stressful weekends and evenings, everything was in place to decorate the float when it arrived the night before the Parade. Most of the work was done and it was completed by 1.30pm on Saturday 21st June. After a long wait and the judges deliberating we all thought that we hadn't won anything then at the very last minute, there it was "Best Overall", we had came FIRST what a tremendous accolade for all the hard work the cadets, staff and parents had put in. Onwards and upwards, what will the theme be next year? we have a reputation to uphold now.
At 0752 on a morning with the best of Scottish weather ,the 21st June, cadets were lining the streets of Dumfries to help marshall the Torch Relay as it passed through Dumfries. Although it was an early start the cadets got a flavour of what London 2012 is all about.
