WW District Sailing Success

5 Cadets from Fishguard this year represented the unit at the West Wales Sailing Competition at Tata Lake, Neath. This year was our biggest entry for quite a number of years. We have been training this year in the new RS Quest Dinghy as well as the new Toppers, which this year we have been fortunate to expand our fleet. Help from local organisations and grants has enabled us to expand the range and number of sessions for training and get more cadets sailing. The final results were.

RS Quest Class (Cdts 1st Class Finn & Freya) - Winners

Pico Class (Ordinary Cadet Evie) - Winner

Topper Class (Cdt Daisy) - 3rd Place

Junior Topper Class (Cdt Amelia) - Winner

"We are all very proud of their achievements this year" said OIC Chris Peake

Our RS Quest Class and Pico Class winners now go through to the Area Sailing event in Portsmouth this weekend. We wish them all the very best of luck.

SEA CADETS BUY NEW TOPPER THANKS TO LOCAL SUPPORT

Fishguard Sea Cadets have been fortunate to purchase a new Topper Sailing Dinghy, which is the entry level sailing boat to learn sailing and develops skills like confidence and self-discipline as well as learning how to handle a sailing boat on your own. We would like to thank the following organisations for their support in purchasing this New Topper Sailing Dinghy :- Valero Refinery, Stena Line, Goodwick Youth Bank, Fishguard & Goodwick Roundtable and an anonymous donation. We are so very grateful to you all and without your support, we couldn’t grow our activities. This new Topper is truly a community funded boat and underpins our commitment to the communities we serve.

Fishguard Cadets attend High Sheriff...

Cadets from Fishguard, along with our Friends at Milford Haven Sea & Royal Marine Cadets and Aberystwyth Sea Cadets took part in the High Sheriff inauguration at Cardigan Castle on Wednesday 12th April. Also present were the Army Cadets and Air Cadets from local Dyfed units.

The cadets took part in lining the route and other official duties. The Lord Lieutenants cadet Huw was also in attendance as the Lord Lt herself was there.

This was a great PR event for the Sea Cadets and thank you to West Wales DO Lt Cdr S Gittins for organising. The cadets are pictured below during official duties and also with the new High Sheriff and Lord Lt
