Portsmouth Trip

Portsmouth Trip

This year we decided to take the unit to Portsmouth for a unit trip. This took place between the 17th and 20th February. 23 cadets and 7 staff took them to stay on HMS Bristol, a harbour accomodation ship at Whale Island, HMS Excellent. During the 3 days the cadets had time to go shopping at Gunwharf Quays, Bowling at Gunwharf Quays, the Submarine Musuem in Gosport, the Historic Naval Dockyard visit, which included HMS Victory, the Mary Rose and HMS Warrior, as well as Action Stations and a Harbour Tour. On the final day we where fortunate enough to be invited to observe the offshore fleet in Gosport, which included the Sea Cadets Tall Ship T.S Royalist, the offshore power vessel T/S John Jerwood, and we also observed the new Yachts T/S Sir Stelios & T/S Ciry of London. Also alongside retiring Yachts T/S Ciry Liveryman and T/S Vigilant. After having a tour of Royalist and John Jerwood, and also assiting with restoring some of the kit, we then headed home.

This was an action packed few days, The CO would like to thank the cadets for their behaviour and the 7 staff who helped throughout, who without them this trip wouldn't have happened.

The girls had alot of tough matches, including Northern Area and Northern Ireland, they played exceptionally well. They came 5th overall, which is a fantastic achievment. I would like to thank the cadets for their hard work and efforts and also the cadets that helped make up the team from our friends at Swansea. I would also like to thank PO Lewis for his help/support and training the teams.
