On Saturday the 24th August 12 Cadets from Fishguard Unit joined the Sea Cadet Training Ship John Jerwood for a weeks Nautical Adventure and Fun. The Cadets joined at Fishguard Harbour and sailed on Saturday evening to Milford Haven. During the week they also sailed to Swansea, Portishead, and Cardiff Marina. They Cadets spent alot of time at Sea learning Navigation, How to stear the ship, helped with Catering and keeping the ship clean, whilst during the whole week they did man over board training, first aid training and all seamsnship skills associated with being at Sea. For most this was their first time away from home and at Sea, so was a real experience for them, which they all enjoyed. During the week they also experienced some Fantasic Weather, and whilst at Milford Marine they enjoyed an open air cinema experience whilst watching a film out on the open deck. This year we are delighted to have recieved help from the following organisations for supporting the cost of these voyages, which are typically £320 per cadet. We would like to thank
Fishguard Bay Hotel, Ladies Circle of Fishguard, Lions Club of Fishguard & Goodwick, Fishguard Post Office, Rotary Club of Fishguard & Goodwick, Pembrokeshire Freight (Mansel Davies), South West Area Sea Cadets Bursaries.
Without the support of these organisations, we would not be able to offer these life changing opportunties to our Cadets.
We are looking for support from our Community in 2020, as we look to get even more cadets on these fantastic voyages and life changing experiences, if you are an organisation and feel you would like to support us, please email the Commanding Officer Sub Lt (SCC) Chris Peake RMR on fishguardscc@btinternet.com
If any Young People aged 10-17 years of age would like to join Fishguard Sea Cadets, please get in touch via same email, or via our Facebook page.
