Boating Season is well under way!

So with the nights getting lighter and the weather getting warmer it must only mean one thing.... boating season. With the amazing success of 3 of our Cadets getting their Assistant Rowing Instructor means we can get all 4 trinities and the power boats on the water!!!

Looking forward to some fantastic boating achievements later this year, especially with the rowing regatta coming up.

Promotion within the Royal Marine Cadets

Promotion within the Royal Marine Cadets

Recently our Royal Marine Cadet Detachment has seen 3 promotions.

We have had 3 cadets attend their Marine Cadet 1st Class advancement board. This is a very hard board where the cadets are tested on areas such as Drill, Uniform, Field Craft and many others.

All 3 of our cadets passed with one achieving a Credit Pass and automatically gets promoted to Lance Corporal.

South West Area Drill Competition

Recently, Gloucester Sea Cadets went to the South West Area Drill Competition where they competed against 9 other teams from the South West of the UK in the Armed section of the competition.

The competition complies of 4 sections of which 3 contain pre-written orders and 1 section is un written and this allows Units to create an 8 minute display of their choice using drill movements from the Royal Navy Drill Manual.

Needless to say the team worked incredibly hard and came 6th.

UMA Success

Monday 27th February saw the Unit have its annual Unit Management audit (UMA). This is an assessment before we have our Unit review in a couple of weeks time.

The Area Logistics Officer, Lieutenant-Commander (SCC) Joe Utting RNR, came down to the Unit to ensure that all of the Units Health and Safety log's were all updated and correct, along with all other paperwork and documentation within the Unit.

Needless to say we passed which means that we now have to prepare for our Unit Review at the end of March where the District Officer and the District Team will come to the Unit to assess us.

Drill Competition Sucess

On Sunday 12th February Gloucester Sea Cadets entered an Armed guard into the Severn District Ceremonial Drill & Piping competition where they came 1st!! They are now off to South West Area Drill competition down at HMS Raleigh.
