Lord Admiral Boyce, presented the town of Hastings with a D-Day pennant that can only be flown by small ships that helped take part in the D-Day landings. The former Hastings Lifeboat "Cyril and Lilian Bishop" was restored to former glory last year and the penant was raised upon its mast. The cadets from TS Hastings took part in the once in a lifetime parade. 

Leading Cadet Jonathan was invested last night as the Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports cadet for 2018. Previous Lord Wardens have included the Queen Mother and Winston Churchill. The current Lord Warden is Lord Admiral Boyce who is Admiral of the fleet. Leading Cadet Jonathan will Escort Lord Boyce on Official Ceremonial Duties over the coming year. A fantastic opportunity.

Former Commanding Officer of TS Hastings, Lt (SCC) Alison Kennedy RNR, was one of 1200 guests invited to the Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Megan Markle. TS Hastings cadets helped the local sailing club with their annual "Push the Boat Out" event. This gives people an opportunity to experience sailing free of charge. The cadets had a great time and got plenty of time out on the water too!

Over the Bank Holiday weekend at the beginning of May, cadets and staff from TS Hastings were invited to take part in the VE celebrations and parade in Hastings Twin Town - Oudenaarde. The visit has been unable to go ahead for the last two year so we were really pleased that we could once again arrange the visit for the 25th time. The cadets had a great weekend visiting a theme park followed by an educational visit to Tyne Cot, the largest Commonwealth War Graves Commission cemetery in the world. The cadets learnt in particular about 2 soldiers who were both from the Hastings area who died a month apart and who's back gardens backed onto each other. The cadets then experienced the Last Post ceremony at Menin Gate in Ypres. On Sunday the cadets took part in the towns parade followed by a service at the memorial. It was a fantastic weekend which the cadets gained so much from. One cadet said "This is the best cadet weekend I have ever been on". We look forward to attending again next year.
