Yesterday as the nation celebrated 75 years since the end of the war in Europe,the cadets and staff celebrated together virtualy with the raising of the Ensign by two members of staff, then followed by 2min silence at 11am to remember the fallen. In the afternoon we shared pictures of our tea parties and houses decorated with bunting which the cadets had coloured in the week leading upto VE Day, and to end the day off two members of staff played sunset supported with RBL Standard. A great day was had by all.

25 March 2019Well done to all of our cadets who represented the Unit today at the Area Drill and Piping Competition in Rochdale. PO Fotheringham said that everyone tried their hardest and had an excellent attitude - everything we have come to expect from our incredible cadets. Well done!

16 February 2019Sea Cadets – A Different Kind of Adventure
Welcome to a different kind of adventure – helping to launch local young people for life today. Transforming them into confident, resilient young people who thrive in a complex world, whatever they want to do when they leave school.
On Saturday 9th March, Kendal Sea Cadets Corps will be holding their Annual Open Day where all members of the public are invited to come and find out more about the Sea Cadets and the work they are involved with. The cadets will be displaying the skills they have learnt as well as the other experiences they have been involved with such as sailing and rowing on Killington Lake; national sailing and boating competitions; opportunities for off-shore sailing experiences aboard yachts, power boats such as TS John Jerwood and Jack Petchey, and aboard their rigged ship TS Royalist – which is also the name of the Kendal Unit! Added to this, cadets can attend courses right across the country to learn and develop new skills which will not only enhance their seamanship, but also enhance their life skills and enable them to become more confident, more resilient, and more determined in life.
The Sea Cadets Corps has recently celebrated its 75th Anniversary here in Kendal and over the years has helped develop the skills of thousands of youngsters and enabled them to fulfil their potential. Even following the devastation of Storm Desmond in 2015, the Sea Cadets continued to meet and continued to provide weekly meetings and training. Of course, the Unit is now all back to full working order and ready for as many visitors as can attend on Saturday 9th March 2019.
The Sea Cadets Unit is based on Queen Katherine Street and will be open from 10am to 2pm. You can meet a range of cadets from Juniors (aged 10-12) and Seniors (12-18) plus meet the Northwest’s First Sea Lord Cadet who recently visited HMS Victory in Portsmouth as part of his training. Staff will also be on hand to answer any questions – so why not pop down and find out more. We have plenty of space for more Juniors, Cadets and if there are any adults out there who would be interested in becoming a volunteer – why not pop down too?
