A group of Cadets from Lochaber’s TS St Christopher have recently won a series of medals in a national swimming completion. Hannah Calder, Gregor Linfield, Emma Watchman, Rebekah Leslie and Kristian Martin were part of a team which included other young people from across the Highlands. This represents the biggest haul of medals for some time. Hannah Calder won two team golds for the freestyle and breaststroke relays, Gregor Linfield who won a team gold medal in the breastroke relay and two silver medals for the boys freestyle and medley relays. Meanwhile Emma Watchman won a gold for her age class of the girls Freestyle relay. Lastly, but by no means least, Rebekah Leslie won two individual gold medals in her freestyle and breastroke races.

A group of our cadets are currently being mentored by a team from Fort William's world-famous Underwater Centre in their entry for a competition to build a submarine.

The competition is being run by Robert Gordon's University and involves the construction of a fully operational remotely controlled submarine (ROV). So far the cadets have gained experience in how professional 'Remotely Operated Vehicles' operate and have started to design their own version. the picture here shows the team in the Underwater Centre. 

Once again we featured in an evening of fun and frolicks on the Caledonian Canal as part of their community evening in August. The picture shows our two rowing teams racing each other for a trophy which was kindly supplied by Scottish Canals. The staff also took part in the Davy Cook Raft Race. Not to be outdone, the committee took along their marquee and sold tea, coffee and hot soup - much needed on a cold and wet Friday evening!

A couple of years ago our unit featured in a German tv documentary. It wasn't a complete surprise therefore when a group of Scouts from Kassel in Germany got in touch to say that they wanted to meet us during a visit to the area that they were planning.

It was great to meet them for an evening of boating, singing, dancing, story telling and a super BBQ which was provided by the committee! Thanks go to the Lochaber Yacht Club for letting us use their club house.
