🇬🇧 KINGS AWARD FOR VOLUNTARY SERVICE 🇬🇧

Today we had the pleasure of being the first organisation in Maryport to be presented with the KAVS Award by HM Lord-Lieutenant of Cumbria, we welcomed the Captain of Sea Cadets, Area Officer, SSO , 1st Sea Lord Cadet from Sea Cadets North West Area, representatives from Maryport Town Council and Mark Jenkinson MP.

Maryport’ Solway Sea Cadets is honoured and proud to have recieved such a prestigious award, the highest award that can be recieved by a voluntary organisation.

We would like to thank everyone who has supported and been a part of the unit throughout its history.

We are humbled and honoured to announce that our Adult Volunteers have been chosen to receive the King’s Award for Voluntary Service (KAVS) 2023

This prestigious award is the equivalent of an MBE for volunteer groups.

This honour recognises the dedication and generosity of our volunteers, each of whom has devoted time and energy to the simple aim of making their Unit, community and area a better place; by helping young people be the best they can be.

AGED 10 - 18 AND LOOKING FOR A NEW CHALLENGE IN 2023?

Visit our recruitment event and open evening on Tuesday 24th January.

Doors open between 19:00 and 20:30

Come alona to our open evening and see what we get up to, we will have plenty of activities to get involved with.

You will have an opportunity to meet our volunteers and cadets, who can tell you of their experiences, answer your questions, and give you information on how to join Sea Cadets.

Volunteer Vacancies

At Maryport & Solway Sea Cadets we are actively recruiting new unit volunteers, from instructors to unit assistants and unit management trustees. 

Assistant Junior Instructor - We are looking to recruit a volunteer who is willing to work with our junior division of cadets aged 10-12, Friday nights 6:45 to 9:15. 

Cadet Instructor - A volunteer to assist in the teaching of the cadet training programme to help the unit deliver the Sea Cadet Experience. Tuesday & Friday Nights, 6:45 - 6:15. 

Unit Assistant - We are looking for a volunteer to assist in the running of Maryport Sea Cadets, from day to admin tasks to inputting data inputting data into our computer system. 3-6 hours per week. 

All of the above roles require no qualifications, however prior learning will be recognised such as first aid and other suitable qualifications. All new volunteers will be subject to DBS checks and other joining checks before joining.
