HMS Trafalgar was recently de-commissioned from the submarine fleet and the ceremony was attended by Cadets and Staff from TS. Trafalgar.
Following an invitation from the Commanding Officer of HMS Trafalgar the party from Merton Unit were accomodated for the night before turning out immpeccably for the de-commissioning parade.This was indeed a rare honour to be included in the proccedings and our Cadets drew words of praise from the assembled dignitaries. 
The affiliation between the ship and TS. Trafalgar began in 1982 when she was commissioned into the Fleet and Cadets and Staff were able to sail in her on her journey from the shipyard to take her place in the Royal Navy.
It was fitting that the event was also attended by Lady Fieldhouse, widow of the late Lord Fieldhouse who launched the submarine back in those days.

Along with Marine Cadets and other Sea Cadets drawn from across the country, four members of the Ship's Company and an Adult Instructor were treated to a four day trip of a lifetime aboard the Commando Assault ship HMS Ocean from Plymouth to Jersey recently.
After a long drive down on a Sunday, the party boarded the ship and proceeded to sea on Monday. A very full programme had been devised and the Cadets were kept busy throughout the voyage.
Following disembarkation in Jersey, an overnight ferry journey saw the tired but happy Cadets back in Portsmouth and a return to Merton.

Members of the combined bands of Merton and Enfield were treated to a two hour trip along the River Thames on HMS Raider, Cambridge University's URNU training boat. A chance to take charge of the controls, under supervision, was enjoyed by the Cadets. The trip took us downstream to Greenwich, where HMS Illustrious was moored, as part of the 100 years of Royal Navy Flying celebrations.On our return and disembarkation, the craft was again heading back to Greenwich to take part in a public demonstration of flying and rescue.

Members of the ships company assemebled on the main deck of the Unit in orde to recive the new Unit colours that have been generously donated by the Coastal Forces Association.

Captain of the Sea Cadet Corps, Captain Fry RN, along with the Mayor of Merton, Cllr. Martin Whelton were the principle guests who attended the Plaque unveiling ceremony at the new Headquarters of TS.Trafalgar, on Saturday 2nd November.
