Last weekend saw the South West Area Drill & Piping Competition. The competition was held at the New Entry Training establishment for the Royal Navy; HMS Raleigh in Plymouth.
Milford Haven Sea Cadets had fierce competition as they represented West Wales District in the Piping Team Competition and also the Continuity Drill Display Competition.
This year was the trial for the Continuity Drill Display, which is a combination of drill both static and marching movements that are conducted to music with no command orders to carry them out. The display needs to last 6 to 8 minutes and the team is to consist of 6 to 8 cadets.
With its first year being tried, Milford Haven were crowned the Winners in the Continuity Drill Display and came fourth in the Piping Team Competition.
Sergeant (SCC) Mark Flude, Officer in Charge comments “This is an absolutely amazing achievement for the Cadets, especially as it is the first year of the Continuity Drill Display. I am a very proud Officer in Charge and it couldn’t have started my command off any better!”.
Good Luck to the team who return to the National Competition at HMS Raleigh at the end of April to go against teams from around the United Kingdom.
