Trafalgar Day celebrations

Cadets, Staff, volunteers and local veterans turned out on Sunday 19th October 2014 for Trafalgar day

Preston Sea Cadet, Royal Marines cadets and Junior cadets held a Trafalgar day service at Saint Mary Magdalene Church in Ribbleton Preston, the parish of the units chaplain Father Keith Fenton. This has now become an annual parade for Preston Sea Cadets at St Mary Magdalene's church.

This service also had a dual purpose and allowed Preston Sea Cadets to dedicate our new Standard, purchased with the kind donations made in memory of a former unit chairman Richard 'Dick' Caunce. The standard was presented by a representative from the Caunce family, Jem Caunce before being blessed by unit padre Father Fenton and presented to the units Officer in Charge PO (SCC) Wayne Warner.

PO (SCC) Warner states "This is a proud moment for Preston Sea Cadets and we are extremely grateful for everything the Caunce family have done for the unit, I believe that the dedication of the units standard is a fitting memorial for our former chairman. We thank the Caunce family and all those that made the generous contributions to our unit in his memory, the funds raised will truly help the young people within our organisation"

SOS Amey

Utilities company Amey give our unit a make over by allowing 30 of their staff to volunteer a day to maintain our unit. Staff from Amey visited us for a day on Wednesday 5th November 2015 and gave our unit a well deserved spruce up. This including painting our classrooms, officers and ward room as well as creating a new ships office complete with a window into the entrance foyer enabling us to welcome visitors. Volunteers also constructed a concrete double garage assisting us with our storage issues.

Kerbside appeal has also been massively improved with the installation of two of the units old boats on the front elevation of the unit. The boats have now been turned into flower beds and are awaiting new flowers being planted.

Without assistance like this we would struggle to keep our building running. Once again thank you Amey!
