T.S. Jervis Bay Reading Sea Cadets and Royal Marine Cadets are looking for new active members to boost and help focus the way ahead for T.S. Jervis Bay into 2025 for the next five years.
Can you spare some time to help manage and lead the way forward to safeguard our unit and boating station, utilising your skills in fundraising and supporting the training staff at the unit? This will allow the unit to grow and enable more cadets from 10 to 18 years old to achieve their potential in life, inspiring them to become future leaders in their communities.
Reading Sea Cadets started as Reading's Navy League Sea Cadets Corps had existed for around six months when these photographs were taken in October 1939. The Corps, which met weekly on Saturdays at Huntley & Palmers Lads' Club, has a rich history of providing instruction in physical, moral, and disciplinary training, especially useful to boys who wanted to join the Royal Navy or the Merchant Navy. Because of the outbreak of war the previous month, the unit was short of funds and had lost the majority of its instructors.
