Five cadets from the unit travelled to Crickhowell over the weekend of April 22-24th to complete their qualifying expedition for their Duke of Edinburgh Bronze award.
The focus of their expedition was the History of the Brecon Canal and they started walking from Talybont. The campsite for Saturday night was Park Farm and after food it was time to look at the maps and be sure of the route for the next day.
The cadets successfully completed the weekend and with a little more work on the other sections will shortly be getting their awards.
Cadets and Juniors from the unit were invited by Ross on Wye Town Council to attend the lighting of the Beacon in the Prospect to celebrate HM Queen Elizabeth's 90th Birthday.
The Ships company marched into place and formed a guard of honour for the Deputy Lord Lieutenant and Mayor of Ross, Councillor Colin Gray.
After short speeches from the Mayor and Deputy Lord Lieutenant the Beacon was lit. The cadets and crowd then saw the light from another beacon.
