2017 - The story of a year

2017 - The story of a year

2017 has been a very successful year: Juniors winning Area Football and District Athletics, Sea Cadets winning District Boathandling and Royal Marine Cadets having a very succesful Field Assessment. We've had cadets away on training weekends, on board TS Royalist and on summer camp. We've had a cadet in the Area Band and we now have a Cadet Sergeant (the first in the detachment's history at Ruislip). We had a great Flag Week, a good Unit Review and we've replaced the doors and windows at HQ.

We celebrated our 75th anniversary (see article in the December edition of Navy News) and we have won the Area Local Unit History Competition. Roll on 2018 for even more success!

Ruislip Sea Cadets were represented at the London Area Carol Concert in the chapel of SS Peter and Paul in the Old Royal Navy College at Greenwich on Friday, 15 December. The Sea Cadets' London Area Band played instrumentals and cadets devised their own readings on the subjects of commitmet, honesty, integrity, loyalty and respect. Cadets, staff, committee members and supporters from Units in London Area attended along with representatives of several Livery Companies and many former staff.

The picture shows the chapel filling up prior to the service beginning.
