Sittingbourne Sea Cadets are more than just a...

9 Cadets and Juniors took a trip to Bluewater on Saturday 14th March. Packing the bags for customers   at Marks and Spencers and raising much needed funds for the unit

In total we collected £725.99 which is a great help in helping he unit to continue providing a varied and interesting cadet experience for the ships company.

Petty Officer Dave Friday who was in charge on the day said "all the cadets have worked really hard today and been a credit to their unit. The final total is a fantastic result and I am sure the Unit Management Committee will be pleased and we certainly hope to repeat the opportunity again."

Unit Chairman Ivor Riddell said "I would like to thank the three instructors PO Friday, PO Yaxley, PO Jackson and all the cadets who have worked really hard today. I would also like to thank Mrs Dawes who works for M&S for setting up the opportunity. We rely on these opportunities to keep the funds coming and keep the unit a safe and stimulating environment, as well as providing equipment and activities for the cadets."

Would you like to help the unit and the cadets but don't have the time or confidence to become a uniformed volunteer delivering training. Then why not join the Parents and Supporters Association.

We will be holding a meeting to explain what is involved. You can find out what we need and you can tell us exactly what you can do, how much time you can give. Your support is what you can offer. Whether it is driving cadets to events, helping out at the unit on Stand Easy (Tuck Shop). Organising a fundraising event or doing repairs at the unit. We will find a way to help you, help us.

Sea Cadets is a volunteer organisation and we rely people like you to make what we do work. It can be rewarding and make a real difference. So come and join us at Sittingbourne Sea Cadets.

New man at the Helm

Sittingbourne Sea Cadets have a new OiC.
Petty Officer Lee Maybourne has a wide experience of the Sea Cadets, starting as a parent of a cadet at Chatham Royal Marine Cadets then becoming a P/Seargent.

He then transfered over to Blue cloth when he joined Medway Towns Sea Cadets.
Identified as a potential future leader he has been working with the District Team on events and has now been offered and accepted the opportunity to step onto the bridge at TS Wyvern.
Lee is married with Three Children and lives in Gillingham. He works for Kent Police and is committed to taking Sittingbourne Sea Cadets forward, building on the strong foundations already in place.
There is lots of work to do in the next year and we will all be busy in the coming months, setting up new systems and processes that will support the development and cadet experience of the young people at the unit.
The whole ships company are committed to the long term sustainability and success of the unit.
