Remembrance Day Parade- 10/11/2013

Remembrance Day Parade- 10/11/2013

Well done to all cadets and staff who represented our unit today at the Speke Remembrance Sunday parade. As usual our marching band was asked to provide music by the Speke Royal British Legion for their parade to and from the church, and also to provide a cenotaph guard for the service. Providing services to the community such as this is an integral part of our cadets experience and gives them the perfect opportunity to show off the standard of dress and drill that they have worked so hard to attain.

Annual France Trip- 27/10/2013

Annual France Trip- 27/10/2013

The time has come again for our annual excursion to the North of France. Our cadets and staff spent the week camping with only minimal access to the internet or technology, and spent their days doing activities in the local area. Highlights included visiting Le Mont Saint Michel Castle, playing on the very beaches where the D-Day Landings happened, and of course the unit-famous trips to bowling alleys, water parks, and local towns. Cadets who had been on this trip before agreed that their week had more than lived up to the trips in the past, and cadets who had never came with us before said they had had a great time and couldn't wait to come again!

NW Area Swimming Success- 13/10/2013

We are very proud to announce that two of our cadets recently brought home medals in the North West Area swimming competition. MC2 Langton and NE Caton put in an incredible effort and came out with seven medals between them, three of them gold! A massive well done for their effort.

Merchant Navy Day- 01/09/2013

Merchant Navy Day- 01/09/2013

Our unit recently had the honour of remembering the Merchant Seafarers who have died in wars and conflicts around the world by being present for the Merchant Navy Day celebrations at the Albert Dock. Our cadets took part in marches and laid wreaths in respect to the dead as well as our marching band leading the main parade around the dock. We must say that we are extremely proud of the cadets as they were very smart and did their unit proud.

CATSEA- 30/08/2013

CATSEA- 30/08/2013

Our Royal Marine Cadet detachment were recently put through their paces at Nesscliffe training camp as part of their annual CATSEA assessment. The first time our unit has participated in this event, they were pitted against thirty four other detachments from across the company (North West Area) as they were tested in areas such as leadership, discipline, and field manoeuvres. After a gruelling weekend our cadets were thoroughly exhausted but had a sense of the dedication they would need to put into their training to succeed in future assessments.
