LORD MAYOR'S PROCESSION 2012

LORD MAYOR'S PROCESSION 2012

Cadets were out in force to support the Lord Mayor's Parade. Being one of only two local Sea Cadet Units, it is important for Southwark to provide cadets for the Platoon and Float. PO Cadet C Malone, LC B Wood, AC S Cummins and OC A Button were members of the platoon while Cadet T Wood and Cadet S Szmidt took their place on the Sea Cadet float. Additionally, Southern Area provided a band while other cadets lined the steps of St Paul's Cathedral.

TS COSSACK'S LATEST COOK

TS COSSACK'S LATEST COOK

Cadet Alexander Smith spent the half term holiday at Feltham Sea Cadet Unit, TS Oberon. During the week, he qualified for his latest specialisation, completing his Cook Steward 2nd class. Cadet Smith already holds First Aid 2nd Class, so will be well placed to give correct treatment to all those food poisoning cases (just joking, perhaps).

Congratulations to Able Cadet Sian Cummins who has been awarded T.S. Cossack Cadet of the Year 2012 by The Worshipful Company of Scientific Instrument Makers. The certificate and medallion was presented by the Deputy Master at the Admission Court Dinner on Thursday 25 October 2012, where AC Cummins also had the honour of proposing "The Immortal Memory".

In addition, Southwark Sea Cadets mounted a carpet guard for the Admission Court Dinner, which was attended by distinguished guests including His Excellency The Ambassador of Switzerland and the journalist and former politician, Mr Daniel Finkelstein OBE.

NATIONAL TRAFALGAR DAY PARADE 2012

NATIONAL TRAFALGAR DAY PARADE 2012

Cadets assembled at Wellington Barracks from all over the United Kingdom to take part in the Annual National Trafalgar Day Parade in London. PO Cadet Callum Malone and Leading Cadet Benjamin Wood were members of the combined London / Eastern Area Band. Other cadets from Southwark assisted on the day. Displays were held before the Band, Platoons and Guard marched onto Trafalgar Square and, after the March Past, all involved marched under Admiralty arch and up the Mall returning to Wellington Barracks. An excellent contribution by TS Cossack SCC, which will encourage more cadets to be involved in 2013.
