BRITISH MILITARY TOURNAMENT

BRITISH MILITARY TOURNAMENT

It was a brilliant night out for a group of cadets attending the British Military Tattoo at Earls Court. The British Military Tournament was presented by ABF The Soldiers’ Charity bringing together all the best elements of the world famous Royal Tournament, incorporating them into a new show for the 21st century. The Tournament took place on Friday 2, Saturday 3, and Sunday 4 December with two performances on each day. All proceeds from the event will go to ABF The Soldiers’ Charity. 8 Cadets from Southwark Unit were lucky enough to attend for the Friday performance and this was followed by a trip to Lee Valley Ice Centre on Sunday 4 December.

Another exciting week

Another exciting week

Alfie Button, Alexander Smith and Hannah Munnelly have just returned from a week aboard the Royal Navy training eatablishment HMS Raleigh. Residential training at SCTC Raleigh involves 12 to 18 year olds from around the UK and in addition to the obvious merits of living and working with young people from varied backgrounds this course gives cadets the opportunity of living and eating alongside RN sailors under training. During the week the cadets get the opportunity to run the obstacle course, carry out Sea Survival drills in the pool and partake in fire fighting and ship damage control evolutions run by the Royal Navy. There will be the opportunity to visit an RN Warship and go afloat to conduct harbour training. By the end of the week the cadets may have the opportunity to achieve Heartstart First Aid, Campcraft & Swim Test. If you want to try this we can fix it for you.

DOUBLE TROUBLE

The remembrance Sunday parade at KenningtonPark this year saw the onlookers seeing double. Ordinary Cadet Sian Cummins of Southwark unit and her twin sister Cadet Kelly Cummins of 75 Detachment ACF were both on parade this year. The twins have their inter-cadet service rivalry between them but it doesn't end there, the twins' older sister Zoe Cummins was on parade with her ATC squadron at the National Remembrance parade at the Cenotaph inLondon. This isn't the first time the Cummins girls have paraded together, at this year’s national Trafalgar day parade OC Sian Cummins fell in with the London Area Sea Cadet Platoon and Zoe Cummins paraded with the ATC platoon. Of course it's obvious who has the highest IQ (The Sea Cadet undoubtedly).
