IMPORTANT BOATING ANNOUNCEMENT*

6 November 2020

Following on from the recent announcement regarding a second nationwide lockdown, the Sea Cadets have made the difficult decision to suspend all face to face activity in the interests of safety.

What does this mean for us?

Unfortunately, all face to face activity needs to cease. This includes our boating arrangements at Crosby Boating Station on a weekend. We will however still be offering online training utilising our Google Classroom platform & weekly Zoom sessions. Cadets can also access online sessions which are being advertised through the Sea Cadet Portal. We strongly advise that all cadets make the most of these opportunities available.

Our Unit Boats Officer (UBO), PO (SCC) Daniel Tench is liaising with Crosby Boating Station on a regular basis and as soon as he receives an update, we will of course pass these on to you. Should you have any specific questions, please do send them to training@sthelenssc294.co.uk

We thank you for your continuing support during these difficult times and look forward to once again getting back to Sea Cadet activities when safe and practical.

Stay Safe!

Launch of St Helens Sea Cadets Newsletter!

20 October 2020

We are pleased to announce that we will be producing a newsletter that will be sent to our Parents/Guardians/Cadets on a monthly basis.

This will provide important information and promote upcoming events of interest.

Recent feedback suggests that some information is missed on social media/sea cadet portal, therefore we have chosen to set up a newsletter that will be emailed to parents/guardians direct.

Our first issue (October 2020) has been emailed to everyone this afternoon.

If you have any interesting stories or news items that you would like to see published, please email them to newsletter@sthelenssc294.co.uk

Enjoy!

Recruitment & Boating

Recruitment & Boating

So we have been really busy recruiting over the summer period and we now have 7 new recruits at St Helens Sea Cadets 😁

It is great to see that even though we are not delivering face to face lessons at the Unit, we can still actively engage with the public to recruit new members in this difficult time.

The good news is that we can still deliver training at our local boating station (Sea Cadets Crosby Boating Station). Today, 7 new recruits and 1 cadet completed their Sea Cadet Swimming Test in the cold waters of Crosby Lakeside 💦 all successfully passed 👏 Well Done and we look forward to seeing you at the boating station again 😊

Update - Returning to Unit

25 September 2020

We are still working in the background to resume operations at the Unit again. We will endeavour to keep you updated with our progress.

Please note that communications/updates are provided by the Sea Cadets using the Sea Cadet Portal. If you need any assistance accessing this, please email training@sthelenssc294.co.uk

We hope that all our cadets, parents & guardians, instructors and committee members are keeping safe during these uncertain times.

Return to Boating 🛶

Return to Boating 🛶

After the successful completion of our Return to Boating process, we had cadets back on the water last Sunday! It was great to see happy faces and we should continue to do so in the coming weeks.

If you missed last weeks opportunity, then keep an eye on your emails in the upcoming days; there will be an email sent out regarding more sessions at Crosby.

Currently we are able to offer Paddlesports or Sailing.

Anyone interested then please send an email stating your preference on activity to training@sthelenssc294.co.uk to reserve your place
