On Thursday 27th April 2017, our Cadets showed their support for SGT (SCC) C Trotter at the local Gang Show Performance.
A Gang Show is a theatrical performance by youth members of Scouts and Guides. Some Gang Shows have leaders of Scouts and Guides on stage too. The aim is, through performance, to empower young people to make a positive contribution to society.
SGT Trotter is a Leader for a local group and has worked hard rehearsing for the past several months.
Congratulations to SGT Trotter for a successful performance and to our cadets for their support.
We would like to thank the Soroptimists International St Helens for their kind donation of £1,000.
Our Commanding Officer A/SLt (SCC) A Bull RNR recently accepted the cheque on behalf of the Unit.
The money donated will be used to improve the training we offer to our cadets and assist with course fees to ensure the cadets make the most of the external opportunities available to them.
On Saturday 22nd April 2017, Cadets and Adult Volunteers bag packed at Marks & Spencer's St Helens and raised a massive amount of £315.93 Thank you to all who attended and of course to those who donated.
Celebrating 75 years ....
St Helens Sea Cadet Unit was first founded in 1942 and was one of the first founding units of the SCC from its predecessor, the Navy League. The unit itself was first owned and used by the Army as a military barracks and can be traced to the beginning of the Second World War. Many rumours surround the units use in this period due to the Ghost sightings that attract many people from around the world to visit. However, the units development through the years is extroidinary.
St Helens unit has in the past won several awards such as the Canada Trophy which the unit won consequetively throughout the 90's. Still today, we are still nominated to take part in competitions and challenges such as the famous Gibraltar Cup.
The unit itself has a unique and diverse history that should be praised and celebrated. For more than 70 years, the unit has trained thousands of young children and adults and seen them develop into remarkable citizens of society. By doing so, the unit has become a symbol of knowledge and passion of which every new member receives and passes on as time goes by.
