DRILL AND PIPING COMPETITION RESULTS

UPDATE - SWINDON PIPING TEAM DOES WELL AT district and AREA PIPING COMPETITION

Swindon cadets did a fantastic job in the drill and piping competition held on 5.3.16

results as follows

  • Piping team - 5TH

  • Individual PiperS - 5TH & 6TH Places

Tuesday 15th December parents and guests attended the Annual Cadet awards night.

the evening  recognised cadet achievement , commitment , and dedication and presentations were made for the following awards/ achievements

JUNIOR SECTION AWARDS

Junior Cadet Achievement Female

Presented to the Junior Cadet Female for commitment, effort and dedication      

Junior Cadet Achievement Male

Presented to the Junior Cadet Male for commitment, effort and dedication

 

COURSES / SKILL AWARDS

Best Cadet on Course - Male

Presented to the cadet that has attended a course and has proven a credit to themselves the Unit & the SCC

Best Cadet on Course - Female

Presented to the cadet that has attended a course and has proven a credit to themselves the Unit & the SCC            

Cadet Most Improved in Drill

Awarded to the cadet that has continually strived to improve their personal drill standard          

Best Piping

Piping in the SCC is an everyday activity but to excel in this takes dedication and skill this award recognises such commitment.

Adventure training achievement

This award recognises tenacity, commitment and excellence in adventurous activities

Catering & Stewarding Achievement

This award is presented for attainment in the catering/ stewarding specialisation

Boatwork Achievement

This award recognised dedication to waterborne activities across all; disciplines

Seamanship Achievement

Seamanship is a key subject in the SCC and as such the standards are high throughout the corps. This award recognises exceptional progression in the specialisation

Cadet Achievement

This award is based on individual cadet achievement personally and in support of the unit

BZ Award

This award is for exceptional commitment to supporting and representing the unit for a 12-month period and is presented each year by the HMS Resolution Association 

 

RATING AWARDS

Rating awards recognise commitment and dedication at each rating level

Best New Entry

Starting Cadets is for some a great change and can be somewhat daunting– This is the same for direct entrants and junior cadets alike moving up to seniors.

Best Cadet

Cadet to Cdt 1st Class marks a change in the cadet training program and starts to develop key skills

Best Cadet 1st Class

Cadet 1st Class builds on the core values of the SCC and further develops the cadet experience

Best Ordinary Cadet

Ordinary Cadet rating builds on Cadet 1st class but this marks a step up in subjects covered

Best Able Cadet

Able Cadet is the highest level attainable in the SCC without attending a promotional board or Area Course to develop leaderships skills

Best Leading Cadet

Leading Cadet is a key role within the unit and is not an easy rating to attain – Requiring a considerable level of commitment and dedication and demonstrates a level of leadership and instructional skills to enable the cadet to support and guide other cadets – A considerable role

 

INSTRUCTOR AWARD

Commanding Officer’s Trophy

Presented to a staff member that has proven invaluable to the unit over the past year in delivering the cadet core training program along with additional specialisations and proficiencies.

CADET OF THE YEAR AWARDS

Junior Cadet of the Year

Presented to the junior cadet that has made an outstanding contribution to the Unit and the Junior section

Cadet of the Year

This award recognises outstanding dedication and effort. It represents a year of attainment in all aspects of the cadets personal, Unit, SCC and Local/ County community commitment.

- well done to all of them for a fantastic result

A team of six cadets took part in the District seamanship competition and brought home the Winners trophy

well done to them all

During the summer months

Cadets and juniors have been very busy on the water and gained over 30 waterborne qualifications in Rowing, Sailing, Canoeing, Kayaking and Power boating
