Just to let you all know that we had a very successful Quiz Night.  Dominos Pizza did us proud by donating the very tasty pizzas, which was a fantastic help to us.

Money raised on the night came to just over £300!!   This will go a long way towards refurbishing the communications room ready to run the cadet courses planned during the winter months.

LOCAL SEA CADETS GET BIRDS EYE VIEW OF OLYMPIC...

Sea Cadets from Swindon will have the chance to see some of the Olympic sailing from one of the best vantage points when they visit HMS Bulwark on 29th to 31st July 2012

The Royal Navy are providing security at the Olympic and Paralympic sailing site in Weymouth . As the Sea Cadet’s biggest supporter they have offered 650 Sea Cadets from all over the UK a chance to come on board.

Swindon unit are part of the lucky group of cadets visiting the site throughout the games. Cadets will experience life on a naval vessel, and get the chance to watch the Olympic sailing from an impressive vantage point.

Swindon Unit Commanding Officer said: “We are thrilled to have this opportunity, it’s amazing to not only be in Weymouth at this time but to see a working RN ship as well is an experience many of our cadets will cherish”

ARMED FORCES DAY PARADE SATURDAY 30.06.12

SWINDON SEA CADETS CAP THE WEEK OFF WITH THE ARMED FORCE DAY PARADE

Swindon sea cadets not only opened the 4th Annual Armed Forces Day week celebration but helped to top off the week supporting the Armed Forces Day Parade

Serving members of the Armed Forces, the TA and Swindon Sea Cadets marched through the town to Wharf Green. The parade culminated with a service of thanks and remembrance was attended by the Lord Lieutenant of Wiltshire. The national event is a  way for all to sat "Thank you" to those that serve in the Armed forces, TA volunteers and the cadet forces. Serving as a way for all to show their appreciation for their dedication to the protection and safety of the United Kingdom.   

The cadets did themselves proud and received numerous comments of praise for their extremely high standards - A credit to the Unit and to the Sea Cadets (BZ's to all that took part in the parade).

SEA CADETS LAUNCH ARMED FORCES WEEK 2012

Swindon Sea Cadets launch Armed Forces Week with the ‘Flying the Flag’ ceremony in Wharf Green

On Monday 25.06.12 at 10am Swindon Sea cadets opened the Armed Forces Week celebrationd with a ceremonial parade and "Armed Forces Day"  flag raising ceremony.

Military dignitaries and ex-servicemen were also on hand to speak of their time in the forces and what serving their country meant to them.

 The event represented the perfect opportunity to pay respect to those servicemen and women who both have and continue to risk their lives for their country.
 
The Queen’s representative at the event was the Vice Lord Lieutenant, Lord Lansdowne, who helped raise the flag and met military personnel throughout the event and inspected the Sea Cades on parade.
 
The ceremony marked the beginning of Armed Forces Week, which will culminate with this Saturday’s Armed Forces Day in Wharf Green.
