More Good News - Walton Goes Global - Part 2

7th March 2013

Today TS Illustrious received some excellent news with Cadet Lance Corporal Andrew Quick being selected to represent the United Kingdom Sea Cadets at the International Exchange to be held in South Korea this July.

The extra good news is that Andrew's best friend Leading Cadet Domonic Jacobs will be representing the United Kingdom in Japan at the same time.

Since 2007 Walton Sea Cadets have been successful with 17 cadets traveling to Australia, Canada, South Korea, Russia, Sweden, Portugal and Bermuda.

A big thank you must go to the Marine Society & Sea Cadets for providing this opportunity of a lifetime.

Leading Cadet Domonic Jacobs has been selected to represent the United Kingdom at the International Sea Cadet Exchange to Japan.  Domonic’s will be jetting off this summer along with other cadets from across the country.

United Kingdom Sea Cadets is affiliated with 19 countries all of which are members of the International Sea Cadet Association (ISCA).

Each year Cadets get the chance to visit countries across the globe as part of the International Exchange Programme. It offers a great opportunity to meet cadets from across the world, learning about different cultures and offering an opportunity to broaden horizons.

Commanding Officer Lt Gary Dodd commented, This is excellent news for a very hardworking cadet, I believe his 4 page write up on ‘why I would like to an ambassador‘ clinched his place!

To my knowledge this is the first exchange to Japan in many years.  We are all very envious of you Cool

Half Term Boredom - not us!

17th February 2013

With the schools closed for the half term holidays 6 Cadets from Walton take the option of gaining some international recognised qualifications during their week off.

Leading Cadet Domonic Jacobs along with Able Cadet Sam Ranson and Ordinary Cadets Sophie and Eleanor Newland traveled down to National Sea Cadet Training Centre in Weymouth Dorset to take part in the RYA Day Skipper Shore-based course.

Ordinary Cadet Luke Norwood and Cadet Caitlyn Wang traveled down to HMS Raleigh in Cornwall to take part in the RYA Start Powerboat scheme which will hopefully see them both achieve a level 2 certificate in displacement powerboating.

Good luck Cadets!!!
