This is the second year which we have taken part in the Calshot challenge weekend, and as you will be able to see from the photos the cadets had a fantastic weekend team building, raft building and competing against other local youth groups.

On a very hot and sunny Sunday afternoon in July the unit took part in the annual Sea Sunday Parade held at the D-Day Memorial in Warsash.
This is the same place were on the 5th & 6th June 1944 3000 brave men embarked into Landing ships to take part in the largest ever amphibious assault in history as they headed towards the beaches of Normandy.
After a short service a wreath was laid by the unit to celebrate the day.
Why do we take part in this parade? The answer is simple The Mission to Seafarers

Piracy, shipwreck, abandonment and separation from loved ones are just a few of the problems merchant seafarers face.
Around the world, The Mission to Seafarers provides help and support to the 1.3 million men and women who face danger every day to keep our global economy afloat. The Mission to Seafarers work in 250 ports caring for seafarers of all ranks, nationalities and beliefs. Through our global network of chaplains, staff and volunteers offer practical, emotional and spiritual support to seafarers through ship visits, drop-in centres and a range of welfare and emergency support services.
Sunday 14th July the unit had 3 members of the ships company representing Wessex’s District in Paddles Sport regatta. All 3 members of team came away with medals after a fantastic day of competition.
Well done Ladies & Gentlemen a fantastic effort.
The day saw a whole unit effort with the units P&SA Committee setting up and manning a store.
Trigger had its first public outing (Trigger is one of the unit’s trinity 500’s rowing boats) we also displayed one of the units new open canoes.
The unit were asked by the Warsash Festival management committee to open the festival with a colours routine
and then then units Hornpipe team did two flawless displays.
