Wessex District Rowing Regatta 2011

Wessex District Rowing Regatta 2011

Due to poor weather at SABS on Sunday the 23rd of May the Planned Rowing Regatta was postponed and re arranged for the Sunday 6th June.

The unit entered 4 Teams, which were a Boys open team, Boys Junior Team, Girls Junior team & Junior Cadets Team.

Due to the introduction of the new Trinity 500 Rowing boats and changes to regatta rules the competitions were to be held in these new boats. Sunday the 6th was the first time that the cadets had even been in a Trinity 500.

This time next year we will have atleast 1 new trinity for our cadets to use and train in.

Well done rowing teams!

Two New Second hand ASC for the Unit

On a long good Thursday, the Unit mansged to collect two second hand, hand me down ASC boats to replace the units older 1968 ASC which had seen better days.

The boats were signed over to the unit after the Corps has introduced the new trinity 500 rowing boat which are replacing the ASC's.

We left the Unit first thing in the morning and headed to Newbury Unit to collect the First ACS and sailing kit and then it was a return trip to the unit to drop of the first ASC and then it was back on the road again to collect the second ASC from Hove unit.  We managed to collect both boats and return to the unit before evening colours.

Both Boats were refitted over a weekend and then put straight to work afloat training the cadets for the regattas.

Well done to the cadets that helped including our two Trailer Pilots.

Thankyou to Hove & Newbury units.
