As you may or may not be aware there has recently been a change in Command at Warsash Sea Cadet Unit and I take this opportunity to introduce myself. I am Lieutenant (SCC) Tony Thurgood, you have probably already met me in my previous role as First Lieutenant Warsash Sea Cadet Unit. I thank Lieutenant (SCC) Gary Bassett for his contribution to TS Tormentor over the past 13 months and I very much look forward to the honour and pleasure of serving your son/daughter in Command of TS Tormentor at the Warsash Maritime Academy, for the foreseeable future.
PO(SCC) Simon Bush is now the second in command of TS Tormentor, the unit First Lieutenant, and with the Training Officer (PO(SCC) Kerry Fuller) and OIC Junior Cadet Section (CPO(SCC) Caroline Adams) together with me form the uniformed ‘Command Team’. With the change of command at TS Tormentor there has also been a change of Unit Management Committee Chairman, we welcome back Mr Stephen Selmes as UMC Chairman.
I have been actively involved in the Sea Cadets as an adult for the past 4 years. Having fully exploited the opportunities as a Sea Cadet in my youth, I fully appreciate all of the challenges and benefits we can offer your child in gaining that all important head start in life. My primary role is to provide a safe and fun based learning environment for your child, within a framework of naval ethos and traditions, to progress on their personal development journey. In no small way I thank you for helping the team at TS Tormentor on that journey with any help, support or encouragement you can provide in the adult volunteer environment that TS Tormentor operates within.
I would be delighted to meet you at the unit and should you have any questions please feel free to speak to me there, by phone or email.
Thank you for all your continued support of Warsash Sea Cadets and I look forward to speaking with you in the very near future.
Yours Sincerely,
Tony Thurgood
Acting Lieutenant SCC
