Three cadets from Whitley Bay Sea Cadets have successfully applied to attend a 6 week training course, courtesy of the Navy League of Canada at their training facility in Cornwallis, Nova Scotia, Canada. The trip has also been made possible with a generous donation from the Mel Weir Trust, which will help towards the costs of the flights for all three cadets to Canada this summer
Each of the cadets will attend separate courses over the summer: Leading Cadet Stewart will attend the Drill and Ceremonial Instructor course, while Able Cadet Garrity will attend the Military Band Intermediate Musician course, and Able Cadet Adam Clark will attend the Intermediate Sail course.
Competition for places on these courses was tough, as there were only 4 places for each course available to all 14,000 Sea Cadets in the UK. For three of our Whitley Bay Sea Cadets to be selected shows tremendous effort - effort which will be rewarded, and we hope that our cadets have a great time in Canada this summer.
