Sgt Ed Bray

15 October 2022

This evening we are flying our Ensign at half mast. As announced to the ships company last week, a couple of weeks ago we were informed that Sgt (SCC) Ed Bray had crossed the bar, and passed away.

Ed joined us in October 2016, and quickly became an invaluable member of the team, Always the first to put his hand up, with a smile on his face, and a determination to get the job done. During his time as a cadet he attended many camps including numerous summer camps, spring camps, and various offshore and boating courses. In 2018 Ed spent 6 weeks in Canada, as part of the international exchange programme, a fantastic opportunity, and one that Ed embraced whole heartedly.

In 2020 Ed achieved the dizzying heights of Cdt Sgt and from the quiet young man who had joined us in 2016, he had become a fantastic leader, and role model.

Upon turning 18 in December 2020, Ed became a member of staff with our unit, and despite working abroad teaching other young people a variety of boating, he never failed to return when he was back in the UK and continue his journey with us.

Sgt Ed Bray, is and always will be a member of the TS Windsor Castle family. He is the example of what we aspire to do down here and his passing is a loss to everyone who had the pleasure to know him.

Our condolences to Ed's family and friends at this sad time.

May fairs winds and calm seas now direct Ed's final voyage
