3rd Class First Aid

3rd Class First Aid

06/08/2015

The weekend of 24th – 26th July saw 9 cadets take part in the Basic (3rd Class) First Aid course held at Woking unit. First Aid is probably the most advantageous course run in the Sea Cadets and for so many cadets from Woking being taught these vital skills is a benefit not only to the unit but the wider community.

Cadets were taught the basics from the best and easiest ways of summoning help, dangers associated with first aid, CPR, dressing wounds, shock and much more. The highlight of the course was the mock injury scenarios where the ‘wounds’ created were very realistic and hats off to the instructors who I think missed their calling for film set makeup artists.

A massive well done to: MC Boyd, CDT Cheareu, CDT Gunner-Smith, CDT Ivory-Bray, CDT Peacock, MC Griffiths, MC Jones, CDT Fletcher and CDT Vincent. A massive thank as always goes to the course instructors PO (SCC) G. Evans (Woking) and PO (SCC) S. Collins (Woking).

On Saturday 27th June 2015 Guildford Town was host to the national Armed Forces Day. At the national event, residents lined the streets, applauding and waving their union flags in the wind, as 900 serving personnel, veterans and cadets paraded through the city to the sound of marching bands. Attended by the Duke of York and the Prime Minister, the occasion included a fly-past by the Red Arrows and a spectacular parachute display.

Around 20 cadets attended from Woking unit supervised by A/Sgt (SCC) Andrews & PO (SCC) Evans. With some of them even etting to meet and chat to the Secretary of State for Defence, The Rt Hon Michael Fallon MP.

The unit's CO, Lt (SCC) Chapman RMR, said "Cadets and staff who attended AFD at Guildford to represent the unit made an excellent impression, were very smart and professional."

New flagship at sea for the first time!

New flagship at sea for the first time!

09/04/2015

Sea Cadets across the UK are one step closer to realising their dreams of a 21st century flagship as they celebrate the ship being out on the water for the very first time! The ship's crew have joined the team at the Spanish shipyard Astilleros Gondan to sail TS Royalist in a number of sea trials, to ensure she is ready to take cadets on offshore voyages in the coming sailing season. We are looking forward to the new TS Royalist coming into the UK in May ready for the naming and commissioning ceremony.
