Unfortunately, the trip to Crealy for Juniors next Sunday has had to be cancelled - there were not very many able to come and we also had problems with the transport arrangements. We hope to organise something for Christmas time.
Any cadet who has already paid will of course be reimbursed.
We now have too many cadets for the number of places. In order to secure your place on the trip, please bring in the £10 cash as we have to pay the visit fee on arrival.
However, in order to be as fair as possible, we will give priority to those cadets who put themselves forward for the Interservices Competition which this is replacing. I realise this means some of you will be disappointed, but this seems the best way to allocate places.
Transport; it is most likely that transport will be leaving West Gate at 1200 and Mudford Recreation Ground car park at 1220.
Friday night - 12th July
All Sea Cadets who are going to Air Day should travel to cadets on Friday night in No 4 uniform but take their No 1s and leave them at the unit. Similarly, all Royal Marines Cadets who are going to Air Day should travel to cadets on Friday night in CS95s, take their No 1 Blues uniform and, if issued, half lovats.
If you haven't already brought it in - don't forget your mug for the tombola - or bring another one if you are feeling generous!!
Saturday - 13th July
Rig: Predominantly No 1s. As soon as the weather permits we will break into half blues. Any cadets not yet enrolled will wear No 4s/CS95s. All Juniors will wear their uniform. Please make sure your uniform is clean and your footwear polished - remember you will be in the public eye, representing the unit.
Transport: Transport will leave Yeovil at 0700 and West Gate at 0715. If you miss the bus, get to the West Gate and ring the unit (01935 4352980) and someone will collect you. At the end of the day, transport will leave the unit at 1800, arriving at West Gate at 1805 and in Yeovil at 1820.
Please note that traffic can be very heavy at the end of the day so the evening timings may be later than planned.
Meals: Breakfast and lunch will be available, together with a light tea. This will cost £5 for the day. There will also be tuck for sale at the unit.
Duties/Admin: On Friday evening, you will be allocated a watch for the next day, along with a supervisor. This will determine your duties for the day, with everyone having equal duties. The unit's stand is in the service display hanger, with each watch having a 30 minute duty from 0830 when the show opens. The relieving watch should arrive for duty five minutes before their watch starts. The unit will be open during the day for parents, family and friends to visit if they wish.
Leaving at the end of the day: No cadet is to leave the base without notifying both the staff on the display and the admin officer so that we know where you are!
Remember - it will be a long day, so make the most of your off watch time to relax at the unit.
Following interviews, we are delighted to announce that Petty Office Cadet Oliver Harmer has been selected as one of the four Somerset Lord Lieutenant's cadets for Lady Gass.
Well done Oli!
